Tea lovers shouldn't miss these loose-leaf treasures in their search for them. Although many varieties are available in Europe, you certainly won't find such a selection at such attractive prices. We can also purchase special vessels and accessories for traditional tea brewing.
Also, check out the fabulous paper umbrellas, which will provide shade from the sun, and the fans, which will come in handy on a particularly hot day. Light and easy to transport, they make a wonderful souvenir or gift from China upon your return. Traditional Chinese lanterns also make a great souvenir – remember to choose the red and gold ones – they bring good luck and symbolize abundance!
If you have a larger budget, it's definitely worth browsing the silk stalls – you won't find a selection like the one in China anywhere else.
Japan
Sushi-themed gadgets are a must-have gift for any lover of this Japanese dish – in Japan, you'll find sushi-shaped flash drives, sushi-shaped socks… there's something for everyone! Also worth checking out are Japanese sweets with interesting designs and flavors unheard of here, such as chocolate with red beans or wasabi. Japanese marinades, pickles, seaweed, and even sushi chopsticks in various sizes and designs can be great additions to a special dinner for friends you'll host upon your return.
When looking for gifts for discerning consumers, it's also worth checking out the cosmetics section. Asian skincare is becoming increasingly popular, but be warned, many Japanese cosmetics have whitening properties. For those who prefer more traditional souvenirs, we recommend the Maneki-neko, a figurine of a cat waving its paw. Speaking of figurines, it's also worth checking out kokeshi, handmade wooden dolls.
If you enjoy treating guests to unusual beverages, be sure to grab a bottle of sake. This alcohol is still difficult to find in Europe, and if it is available, it's expensive and not necessarily of the highest quality. It's also worth investing in a set of traditional sake glasses, which encourage guests to drink sake according to tradition, savoring every sip.
