Spicy herring with dried tomatoes
Herring is a must-have on the holiday table. What if you added a little spice to it? Follow our chef's suggestion and add aromatic House of Asia chili paste and old French Dijon mustard from Maille.
Ingredients
1 spoon House of Asia Chili Pastes
3 tablespoons Old French Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons of pickled cucumber, diced
8-10 Matias herring fillets in brine
6-8 dried tomatoes cut into strips and 1 tablespoon of olive oil
2 medium shallots, sliced into rings
2 tablespoons of finely chopped chives
Pepper to taste
Water with lemon for soaking the herrings
A method of preparing
1. Soak the herring in lemon water for about an hour. Then, remove and pat dry with paper towels. Cut into medium-sized pieces and place in a wide bowl. Add the shallots, tomatoes, cucumbers, mustard, chili paste, season with pepper, and mix thoroughly.
2. At the end, add the chives and the sun-dried tomato oil, mix again and set aside for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to blend (preferably overnight).
TIP: Serve the finished dish with boiled potatoes.
