Jackfruit is a tropical fruit that, thanks to its fibrous structure and ability to absorb flavor and aroma from spices and sauces, makes a great meat substitute. Try this veggie burger recipe and surprise all your meat lovers!

Ingredients

  • 1 can of green jackfruit
  • 6 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 4 tablespoons of coleslaw
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

SOS:

  • 2 tablespoons of sriracha green chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise

A method of preparing

  1. Place the jackfruit in a strainer and drain well, then cut off the woody ends and use a fork to tear the fruit into string-like pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the jackfruit until golden brown, then add the teriyaki sauce and fry for about 5 minutes, allowing the fruit to absorb any excess sauce.
  3. Heat butter in a pan and fry the halved rolls. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, thoroughly mix all the sauce ingredients.
  4. Assemble the burger in the following order: spread the sauce on the bun, add the coleslaw, fried jackfruit, and finally the vegetables and cover with the other half of the bun.
