Asian-style gingerbread cookies
Asian gingerbread cookies are a combination of spicy aroma, cocoa and the delicate saltiness of miso, which create a unique, festive flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons House of Asia light miso paste
- 350 g wheat flour
- 100 g butter
- 1 egg
- 100 g of honey
- 80 g brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa
- 2 teaspoons gingerbread spice
- pinch of salt
Icing:
- 1 teaspoon House of Asia White Sesame
- 100 g melted dark chocolate
A method of preparing
- In a saucepan, melt the butter, honey, and sugar until just combined (do not boil). Remove from heat and add the miso paste, mix thoroughly, and let cool.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, gingerbread spice, and salt. Add the honey mixture, egg, and milk. Knead until smooth, shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2 hours.
- Roll out the dough to about 0,5cm thick, cut out the cookies, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 160°C for 8–10 minutes.
- Decorate the cooled gingerbread cookies with melted chocolate and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
