Baked tofu
Baked tofu in Kung Pao sauce is a perfect example of how simple and quick Asian cuisine can be. With House of Asia's Kung Pao Paste, in just 25 minutes you can create a dish that tastes like something from a top Asian restaurant. With just a few ingredients, you can enjoy crispy tofu in an aromatic, sweet-and-spicy sauce, served with delicate jasmine rice.
Ingredients
- 1 pack House of Asia Kung Pao Pastes
- 1 teaspoon House of Asia 5 Flavor Spices
- 1 teaspoon House of Asia white sesame seeds
- 2 cubes of tofu, cut into larger pieces
- 3 tablespoons of corn flour
- 2 teaspoons of oil
- ¼ cup of water
- 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
To serve:
- 1 tablespoon of coriander
- 1/2 lime
- Cooked jasmine rice
A method of preparing
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (top and bottom heat). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Pat the sliced tofu dry with paper towels. Transfer to a bowl and mix with a tablespoon of kung pao paste, a little oil, flour, and five-spice powder. Coat thoroughly.
- Spread the tofu on a baking tray and bake for about 20 minutes, until golden.
- Meanwhile, prepare the sauce: sauté the onion and garlic in a pan, add the water and remaining kung pao paste. Bring to a boil and simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Transfer the baked tofu to the pan and coat thoroughly in the sauce. Serve with rice, sprinkled with sesame seeds and cilantro.
